Guess who made it to the front cover of Cincinnati Family Magazine? That’s right, it’s Dante! This is the first time Clifton Peformance Theatre has been featured on the front cover of Cincinnati Family Magazine and in their arts directory, so we are excited to have provided the magazine with such a great picture! Day 2

The kids are getting more comfortable and opening up as they settle into new friendships. They’ve spent a lot of time with Mr. Bryan and Miss Blair today, working on all of the songs and dances, and in the afternoon they completed blocking the show with Miss Carol. Things are really moving along!

Day 3

Miss Tajci came in this morning for a little intensive musical direction, showing the kids more ways to express themselves while singing and how to strengthen their vocal performance. It’s amazing how much energy she inspires in the kids!

Week three of our “Aladdin” Summer Camps is over. The cast is ready for a weekend of performances.

Our amazing staff has done a wonderful job with the young kids, who were for the most part new to Clifton Performance Theatre (all but five of returning students)

Thank you to: Elizabeth Guilford, student management and art direction; Kathy Bennett, assistant director; Brian OhSung, music director; Ali Jones, assistant choreographer; and Mary Kate Cameron, assistant stage manager.

After the short break, we will be back with the Peter Pan camp.

Week Three – Even More Fun!

This new crew of ‘Aladdin’ summer campers is younger than ever – but perhaps the learning curve is faster with younger children, because they’re blazing through the songs and dances like there’s no tomorrow. They’re all really happy and fairly energetic, and since most of them already know each other, the kids have a great time hanging out during break periods and working together on the show. Maybe they’ll bring even more of their friends in to watch them perform this weekend!

We Are Getting There…

Having run through the entire show today completely off script, we were able to get a sense of how far we’ve come along – and how close the cast is to being ready for the show! They’ve been putting in so much effort, we decided to give them a little break today and catch a change of scene at the library. Then, back to put the finishing touches on their show posters, and ready for more acting tomorrow! The excitement continues to grow as the kids get more of an idea of how it’s all going to come together for a great performance weekend. Can’t wait!

Week Two Has Started Off Great!

The kids in this week’s session of the Aladdin summer camps are simply overflowing with energy – and with all the rain we’re supposed to have this week, we’re going to have to be really creative in coming up with new ways for them to work some of it off inside! They know quite a bit of the songs and dances already, and the blocking is coming along nicely, so things are moving right along. We’re looking forward to some exciting shows this weekend, as they apply all of that spirit and vivacity to their stage performances.

In The World Of Theatre We Call It “Magic”

First the script is written, music composed, recorded, arranged and prepared.

Then, director, music director and choreographer work on the vision and build all the elements. Designers create costumes, sets, lighting cues (in our case, this is all done by a very small team of dedicated individuals) and casting directors cast the parts.

The actors come together. Some know each other from before, some meet for the very first time. They all work together. And then on the day of the first run through, everyone feels the magic of the show coming together.

We are close to show time. And ready to share our talents and magic with you. There are 10 tickets left for Saturday’s performance and only a few more for Sunday.

Two More Days To Go!

The kids are doing so well with “Aladdin” that everything is moving ahead of schedule – it is really quite remarkable how much they have been able to accomplish in only four days. Their comfort level with the songs, dances, and script bodes well for some great performances this weekend! When the kids aren’t running their scenes, they play improvisational games outside, which is great way to get them thinking outside the box as they invent new characters and build camaraderie with one another.
